Workforce Housing
The Decatur Housing Authority (DHA) owns and operates a number of communities that are aimed at providing workforce housing. Workforce housing may be defined as housing that is made affordable to working families who earn between 60% and 120% of area median income (AMI). Workforce housing focuses on workers who are middle income. These include teachers, office workers, police officers, health care professionals, retail workers, service industry staff, and government employees. These workforce housing units are not subsidized with rental assistance. Although, families with housing choice vouchers can apply for housing when units are available.
DHA seeks to keep rental rates affordable to families in order to continue to preserve the ability of working families to remain in Decatur near to their employment. Most of the rental rates for the workforce housing are several hundred dollars below the market rate housing in Decatur.

DHA owns the 65-unit Spring Pointe apartment complex plus two (2) single-family homes nearby. These units provide much-needed, quality workforce housing in Decatur. In addition, Spring Pointe offers many special activities for its residents, including a National Night Out Celebration each year and DHA seeks to have a courtesy officer when available using local police as residents. The office is equipped with a business center for residents and there is an excellent children's playground. The community is located near the Oakhurst Village Center with coffee shops, restaurants, shops, and other services. McKoy Park, a City of Decatur facility, is nearby for recreational opportunities.
