Excellence Awards Program

Join us in celebrating our youth for their excellent school year.

We will be hosting our annual Excellence Awards program 

Thursday May 22nd 2025 at 5pm 

at the Ebster Recreation Center 

This celebration will be capped off by celebrating our class of 2025 and all their accomplishments along with providing scholarships to those that applied! 

The 32nd Annual Excellence Awards Ceremony is to honor the exceptional  students living in the Decatur Housing's affordable housing communities. 

The Decatur Housing recognizes the academic achievement of our students and provides scholarships to all college-bound seniors. 

• Over the past 32 years, the Decatur Housing has awarded over $711,950 in scholarships. 
• In partnership with City Schools of Decatur, DHA has operated a daily after school program for the past 32 years for Pre-K to fifth grade students, called Successfully Teaching Academic Readiness (STAR), which assists with academic readiness, reading, and computer literacy skills. 
• DHA is a steadfast supporter of education in our community.

Some of the School Academic Awards that will be presented are: Perfect Attendance, Overall Improvement,  Honor Roll, Performing Arts, All Around Athlete, Good  Citizenship and Outstanding Conduct.

All DH college bound seniors who are attending a two or four year college or Technical School are eligible for a scholarship from the  Decatur Housing.  Additionally, any adults living in DH's affordable housing communities who are seeking a degree are also eligible for a scholarship. 

New in 2025 is a Scholarship honoring the previous CEO of DH.  The first Douglas S. Faust Scholarship will be presented to the candidate that was selected from ones that submitted an essay to the question provided by Mr. Douglas Faust.
