Resident Services programs are available for all residents of the Decatur Housing Authority. These programs are designed to promote self sufficiency in addition to fostering a caring environment for the residents. We provide annual programs for all residents such as our free clothing distributions, Black History Program, National Night Programs and the Resident Christmas Party. We also provide case management services and emergency intervention.

We provide free transportation services for senior and disabled residents, including weekly shopping trips, monthly field trips, Senior Valentine Luncheon, Senior Mothers Day Luncheon, Senior Birthday Luncheon, and Annual Mayor’s Walk among other programs. We provide the youth with a variety programs designed to deter negative behavior. Some of the programs are as follows: STAR After School Programs, Teen Programs, Scouting Programs, Entrepreneurship Programs, Drug Education Programs and Recreational Programs and Activities.

Our adult residents have the opportunity to attend a Parent Group, volunteer  to assist in implementing programs, attend the Resident Association Meetings, participate in our Job fair, and schedule individual case conferences in addition to other services.

Resident Services has established collaborative partnerships with agencies and organizations to develop community based approaches in implementing programs for residents. Some of our partners are as follows: The City of Decatur Schools, Partnership for Community Action, The City of Decatur Recreation Department, The University of Georgia Extension Service, the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America.

Volunteers for our programs are always welcome.
